About Us
Aneja Mango Wine is the dream of retired couple, Paul Aneja and Sneh C. Aneja. Paul is a successful entrepreneur and retired army officer and Sneh, MS, RD, was a practicing dietitian for over 35 years in the United States before her retirement.
In their travels through the major wine-producing regions of the world, they acquired a deep understanding and affinity for the art of wine making. The information and skills they gathered was heightened by living in California’s Napa Valley and the Niagara wine region in Ontario, Canada. It was in Australia that they came across a mango grower who was once left with a huge quantity of unsold mangoes and tried his luck on mango wine. The seed was planted in their minds and upon tasting it, they were fully convinced that this wine had all the good characteristics and body of a fine grape wine, while still maintaining the unique essence of mango. As the days passed, their dream slowly became a reality. Paul got busy in procuring a fresh crop of the finest mangoes and finding an established winery with state-of-the-art fruit wine-making equipment to create an exceptional mango wine. Their search ended with the experienced vintners at Puddicombe Estate Farms & Winery in Winona, Ontario. Established in 1793, they are located in the heart of the Niagara wine region. Meanwhile, Sneh took on the task of researching the benefits of mangoes. The findings were astonishing. She came across studies hailing the remarkable health benefits of mangoes. The most interesting discovery was that mangoes contain antioxidants that aid in the prevention of heart disease, cancer, and diabetes. (More on the health benefits of mangoes can be found in the Our Wine section of this website.) As the saying goes, patience is a virtue. After waiting for the wine to fully age, ferment, settle and go through the filtering process, the Anejas finally were able to taste the “fruit” of their labor of love — a fine mango wine, with a full body, aroma, and the taste of thousand smiles.
